About the project
Leaders is a short, tactical duel where two pretenders to the throne recruit champions with unique abilities and maneuver them on a hexagonal board. No armies, no bloodshed: the first player to capture the opposing Leader wins. The BGA adaptation offers a Discovery mode for newcomers, a Strategy mode with champion bans, and The Vermilion Emperor expansion.
Challenges and Risks
- Hexagonal grid with legal moves, adjacency and capture conditions checked on every action
- About 30 champions with unique skills (jumps, pushes, pulls, forced moves, ability blocking) resolved as chains of states
- Passive skills to check and reliable undo of their side effects
- Strategy mode with automatic and manual champion bans
- Expansions developed in parallel and activated in production through feature flags
