About the project
In Microlonies, each player leads a colony of a different ant species, each with its own rules, strengths and limits. Ants are sown mancala-style through the Tunnels of your Anthill to trigger Chambers — Lay Eggs, Build, Hunt, Colonize — while on a modular hex map you explore, lay pheromone trails and hunt prey to ensure the survival of your Colony.
Challenges and Risks
- Eight asymmetric species bending the core rules, each plugged into a shared turn engine through dedicated hooks
- Mancala-style dispersion through a player-built anthill: adjacency, dead ends, loops and Queen precedence on an evolving layout
- Hex-map logic: pheromone trails connected to the Nest, exploration pathfinding and hunting zones
- A dense multi-board interface made readable with a tabbed / single-page layout down to mobile width
- 37 objective cards and a 7-category final score evaluated automatically
